The Sun is #9 in my 10-day countdown to 40 list of things I’m thankful for.
I have always loved the sun. It’s a requirement to love it in order to live in Houston, Texas. They don’t want no sunshine wimps living here and complaining during the 345-day-long summer. (Griping about humidity is fair game, though.)
I love the feel of the rays on my skin. I even like the bright shine of it when I’m nearly blinded by it as I’m heading west on I-10 on a Friday afternoon, driving toward the Hill Country.
But the best way to understand my love of the sun is through this beautiful song by Hugh Masekala, Woman of the Sun.
